About Me
I have just retired after 36 years on the faculty of the University of Southern California, in the Sol Price School of Public Policy. I am an organizational theorist by training, with a PhD in Organizational Behavior from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. My teaching and writing have focused on how organizations can be designed and managed in ways that serve to enhance the quality of life for human beings, their communities, and the natural environment. An important theme in my work has been the importance and value of thinking of organizations as organic, living systems, in contrast to the "machine model" of organizations that has dominated the modern industrial era. In particular, I am interested in methods of generating collaborative organizational dynamics that enhance the capability of diverse people to work together effectively to co-create shared value. I am currently working on a book (with a team of co-authors) that outlines the principles, properties, and practices of "5D organizations" that are aligned with the higher level of consciousness that is awakening on the planet. My soul purpose is to help facilitate this organizational transformation as we transition in a new era of human civilization.
